Cascade Comets Tournament - Recap
Big thanks to Cascade Comets for hosting this weekend! we had a great time and came home tired and dusty with 2nd place in division 2 both days! Big thanks to Christy from Jet City jumpers who helped us with holding dogs when we were short-handed. Congrats Adriana of Cascade on your first time judging!
We had some Unorthodogs firsts this weekend. Toni called passes for the first time. 3 dogs made their tournament debut. Bailey and Zip and Paul and Savage both had their first warmup experience.
Danger made his racing debut sharing start position with Zoey. This of course sparked a little start time competition between Dave and I. I couldn't beat Dave's best start of 0.01, but came as close as I could with a 0.02. but then again, none of us were able to defeat Brooksie in handling skills. She is a passing genius! caught on video, Brooksie proves that passing is a true form of art.
the two red girls officially retired this weekend:
Raja, FMCh, began her racing career with Jet City Jumpers in 2001. She moved to Unorthodogs when we founded the club in 2006. Leslie spent a great deal of time, expertise and persistence retraining Raja's box turn to something poetic. Raja raced with Unorthodogs until finally retiring. She will be missed at tournaments but we still hope to see her as often as possible. Raja ran with an equal amount of attitude an heart. She helped train many a green dog in dealing with distractions. Cheers to Leslie and Raja!
Ruby Red, CGDCh, began racing in 2002 with Lietash Push the Limits in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She then moved to Dallas, TX where she raced with Cutting Edge and Texas Heat, then made the move to Seattle where she raced briefly with Jet City until finally moving to Unorthodogs in 2006. Ruby was known for being an untiring, fast height dog. Her 2 claims to fame were her lightning box turn and her impossible ability to produce spit and subsequently fling it on everyone. Ruby now enjoys her life as a couch dog but will certainly be missed in the racing lane.

Ruby Rocks!
We'll miss you, it was great to
run with her for many years.
Robbie, Sonya and the Sure Shots
Ruby and Raja are both irriplacible as very solid and reliable dogs who will be missed by all of us who have been lucky enough to race with them.
Luckily, both of their equally fabulous handlers are working with thier own younger pups - and we expect to see great things from them too. both of the younger dog's speed to and from the box is very promising! look out!!!
